Microsoft Considering iPad Version of Office

Office for the iPad?

Microsoft Senior Product Manager Mike Tedesco told Chris Smith of T3 that an iPad version of Office is “…something we’re looking at.” He also added that, “Obviously the announcement (of the iPad) is really fresh and there’s nothing to announce or nothing that I can talk to you about today.”  Tedesco’s comments came at the Office for Mac 2011 preview event. Chris Smith of T3 says that getting Office would be a big boost for the iPad.  However, David Coursey of PC World thinks that the iPad isn’t ready for Office.

I don’t think Microsoft is in any rush to get a version of Office to the iPad. I bet they slow play it and see how sales go. Or wait until there is a public outcry for it. Especially since Apple’s iWork will be available at launch and can open and edit Office files.
